I started oil painting in September 2001.
All of these paintings were done from September
to November 2001. Some of them are not for sale (NFS).
They're all oil paintings.
Here we go...
1. Sleep Reading (NFS) 12" x 10" canvas on board
[The model is Marie - she has a habit of falling asleep while reading. This was the first painting that I started.]
2. Beatles into the Light (240GBP) 10" x 12" canvas on board
[This was the very first painting I finished]

3. Green Feet (240GBP) 14"x18" double primed board
[Read into it what you like. My most talked about painting; a sort of trade mark. On my initial run of business cards
I had, "The guy that did the green feet".]

4. Bob's in his Garden (240) 14"x18" canvas on board
[My next door neighbour has the most amazing display
of colour all year round. I placed him in twice then didn't
make a decision to take one of the out. It makes for a
more interesting composition.]
I donated it to Bob's wife Jen on 18th May 2010, the day
he died.
5. Mary Munro (NFS) 20"x16" canvas on board (private collection)
[This was my first proper portrait. Mary, my second cousin, was the perfect model. It was completed within three sessions.]
6. Hide and Seek (180) 14"x10" double primed board
[I originally had a brick wall behind and didn't like it so I opened it up by painting landscape. One of my daughters,
Rachel, was peeping through this unusually shaped tree, which is not far fom my house.]

[This is from a photo I took while on a celebratory two day trip on the canal for my parents golden wedding
anniversary. The likenesses of the people are quite good - so says my Dad.]

[I did this in one go (ala prima) from a photo.]
10. Ardessie Falls, Ross-shire (60) 8"x6" double primed board
[From a photo I took. This attractive waterfall is beside a road on the west of Scotland. I have driven past it several
times and not known it was there!]
11. The Sutors, Ross-shire (30) 6"x8" double primed board
[I painted this from a photo I took from the deck of HMS Sutherland when it was birthed at the Saltburn jetty.]
12. J B Vernon (NFS) 20x16" canvas on board
[I enjoy doing portraits and wish I'd had a bit longer to finish the job.]

[Hurriedly done in the Christmas holidays.]
